Memory of Kara

I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Kara very long. I’m married to one of Kara’s cousin, Mary Angevine. I would see her at occasional family gatherings during the summer and the Holidays. Whenever I think of Kara I usually think of one of these gatherings. All of the Schwarts’ were at Conesus Lake. The cousins decided to go to the Go Karts at Minnehans. Mary and I went to go watch. Up till now, Kara had always seemed to me like a laid back fun loving person. In a Go Kart however, she was a completely different person. Let’s just say, you didn’t try to pass her. If you did, you paid a price. I cringed when I saw someone attempt to pass her because I knew that person would be be crunched up against a wall a few seconds later. Kara had a look of pure determination on her face. After they were done, I walked over to her and told her she drove like a crazed lunatic. She just smiled and laughed. She seemed to have such a great combination of traits in that she was so fun loving and great to be around and, yet, at the some time, very independent, determined and courageous. I wish I had gotten to know her better.
